FAQ’s for hiring a Balranald live music band
Q-How long do you play for?
A- We typically play around 4 brackets of songs sets which take around 45 minutes with a break of 15 minutes between each bracket.
Q-What time will the band start playing?
A- The start time of the band is typically negotiable, as it depends on the availability of the band members to arrive at the venue.
Q-Does the band bring its own PA and lighting?
A- Y U Ask band has it’s only PA system and lighting for the stage. The PA system uses state of the art digital technology. The front of house system comprises a pair of QSC K12.2 2000 watt speakers and 18 inch 2000 watt subwoofers.
Q-Can we have use of a microphone for speeches?
A- Absolutely please let us know when you book the band and we will make sure there is a dedicated microphone available at the gig.
Q-Do you play Daryl Braithwaite’s Horses?
A- Unfortunately this song isn’t in our current playlist.
Q-How many people in the band?
A- Y U Ask is a three piece band, comprising drums, guitar, piano & vocals.
Q-Do you charge extra for travel?
A- Once the driving time to a gig is going to more than 30 minutes we will charge for any travel additional to our base fee. Ie. 50 Km’s radius from Swan Hill.
Q-How do I get a quotation?
A- Please call, email, message on our website, facebook page or call 0434 056 390.
Q-How do I confirm a booking?
A- Once you are ready to make a booking please just contact and we will lock you in. We will update our band gig calendar with your booking once we confirm.
Q-Do you require full payment prior to the gig / event?
A- Typically we will require full payment prior to a gig in Swan Hill, unless other payment terms have been negotiated.
Q-How long are the breaks / intervals?
A- Around 15 to 20 minutes between brackets.
Q-Do you supply music through your breaks / intervals?
A- We play neutral music between brackets, if you have some specific music you wish us to play please let us know and we will program these songs.
Q-How far will you travel for a gig / event?
A- We are prepared to travel long distances for gigs, travel will really depend on the client’s ability to pay our travel rate. We’ve played in Balranald, Bendigo, Deniliquin, Echuca, Kerang, Maryborough, Mildura, Moulamein, Swan Hill & Tocumwal.
Q-Do I need to offer refreshments to the band during the gig / event?
A-Yes, body weight in alcohol for the video guy – (He normally just drinks water). The band will require refreshments in the form of soft drinks and water as playing is normally quite hot work. Maybe a few beers after a gig if you think we are worth it.
Q-Will the band need accommodation?
A- This will depend on the distance from Swan Hill, we don’t normally drive any longer than 2 hours after a gig.
Q-Can the band play a few sets of lighter listening songs for dinners and Sunday sessions etc?
A- Absolutely, Y U Ask is the ideal band for lighter listening songs, and has lots of experience playing for Sunday sessions.
Q-Does the band play original music?
A- The band does play a mix of originals and covers.
Q-Will you play a specific song?
A-Depends on the song or the occasion, if it’s a song you must have we require prior notification to research & learn the song.
Q-Do we need to have / hire a raised stage?
A- A stage is always a great addition to any Balranald Maryborough,gig / performance but is not a mandatory requirement.
Q-How much do you charge for overtime / playing longer than the agreed time?
A- We typically charge by the song/bracket after our agreed time.
Q-How much time do you need to setup, sound check and pack up on the day of the event?
A- Depending on the venue the band will require around 90 minutes to set up and do a sound check.
Q-Does the band require a meal?
A- If the band has travelled a long distance a meal is always very nice, however it isn’t mandatory.
Q-What are the minimum power requirements for the band?
A- We require access to at least 2 GPO (General Purpose Outlets) 10 amp sockets. This can vary depending on the size of the venue.
